Pinot Gris/Grigio
The pinot gris/grigio category was small but mighty this year, with strong examples from British Columbia, Italy, and the Pacific Northwest. (Because of the January 2024 deep freeze in BC, some of the Okanagan Valley wineries entered wines made with US grapes.) Styles range from the lighter, crispier, fruity versions commonly made in Italy, to richer, more complex options. All are food-friendly and approachable, great year-round picks for dinner parties and casual get-togethers. - Shelley Boettcher
